Policy
Stopping Family Violence (SFV) is a leading voice for change in Western Australia and across the country. We work to ensure the systems responding to family and domestic violence keep perpetrators in view, hold them accountable, and genuinely support the safety and wellbeing of adult and child victim‑survivors. Through our expertise, advice, and sector leadership, we advocate for reforms that turn evidence into real‑world impact.

SFV plays an important role in shaping the System Reform Plan (2024–2029), joining the Implementation Oversight Group following crisis meetings with frontline family and domestic violence services. We continue to advocate for the investment needed to bring this plan to life, and for stronger quality and compliance mechanisms in perpetrator intervention across Western Australia. Our extensive consultation informed the updated WA Practice Standards for Perpetrator Intervention, expected to be released later this year.
SFV has been a prominent voice in consultations on coercive control legislation. While we are encouraged by the ever increasing awareness of the role of coercive control in FDV, our advocacy emphasises that legislation alone is not enough.
SFV works with organisations to build safer workplaces and stronger responses to family and domestic violence. We help develop and embed robust policies, ensuring that strong commitments are matched by safe, accountable, and effective practice.
